The Role
We are searching for highly motivated and ambitious Human Factors specialists who take pride in delivering exceptional work for their clients and prioritise end-users' needs impacted by the systems they help design.
As a Human Factors professional, you will possess a remarkable portfolio, showcasing your expertise and accomplishments across various industries where you have previously excelled. Your role will primarily involve executing and successfully delivering project assignments for clients predominantly operating in safety-critical sectors.
Ideal candidates should possess a range of experience and expertise in some or all of the following areas:
Extensive experience leading and managing Human Factors projects and teams.
Expertise in applying Human Factors principles and methodologies across various industries.
Proven ability to develop and implement Human Factors strategies and integration plans.
Advanced knowledge of relevant UK and international Human Factors standards and regulations.
Demonstrated skill in conducting complex Task Analysis and workload assessments.
Proficiency in assessing and optimising the usability and user experience of systems.
Experience conducting Human Factors research, including user interviews and usability testing.
Strong understanding of cognitive ergonomics and human-computer interaction.
Ability to provide expert guidance and mentorship to junior Human Factors professionals.
Track record of effectively communicating and presenting Human Factors findings to clients and stakeholders.
Aptitude for collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, and project managers.
Experience in developing Human Factors training programs and workshops.
Knowledge of Human Reliability Analysis methods and Human Error Probability estimation.
Familiarity with safety-critical industries and the application of Human Factors in these contexts.
Ability to contribute to thought leadership and industry publications to advance the field of Human Factors.
Proven ability to develop and implement Human Factors design guidelines and standards.
Expertise in conducting usability evaluations and applying user-centred design principles.
Proficiency in conducting human error analysis and developing error prevention strategies.
Experience in conducting field studies and observational research to inform design decisions.
Skill in conducting Human Factors assessments for complex systems and interfaces.
Knowledge of anthropometric principles and their application in ergonomic design.
Familiarity with human performance modelling and simulation techniques.
Ability to lead and facilitate Human Factors workshops and design thinking sessions.
Track record of conducting Human Factors risk assessments and mitigating safety hazards.
Proficiency in conducting user requirements analysis and translating them into design recommendations.
Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design principles for diverse user populations.
Expertise in human-centred design for emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things devices.
To be considered for the role, candidates will need to be able to demonstrate the following:
Degree or Post-graduate degree in ergonomics or related science or engineering-based subject or vocational qualification (HND or equivalent) with extensive practical experience
Knowledge and experience of working on a range of projects across different industries
Excellent interpersonal/communication, report writing and presentation skills
Professional membership to a relevant chartered body (desirable)
To work for UCD, all candidates must hold a minimum of a Security Check (SC) clearance without any restrictions. UCD will support the application for Security Clearance if the candidate does not currently hold it.
